Penmen was born in Sydney, lived for 20 years in Oxford, and now works from Tasmania. Originally schooled in oils and drawing, he has spent decades with a camera in hand — first on film, now digital.

His current work explores landscapes, cityscapes, and abstract details of everyday life. Bright colour, a glimpse of light, and strong lines all to the horizon, Stephen creates images that invite a second look, revealing unexpected stories in familiar places.
